Shosenkyo Gorge

It is one of the “Five Great Gorges of Japan.
It is also known as “the most beautiful canyon in Japan,” and was selected as the first place in the canyon section of the 100 best sightseeing spots in Japan.

The gorge, which stretches about 5 kilometers from Nagatorobashi Bridge to Senna Falls, was formed by the deep erosion of granite by the river.

Oddly shaped columnar granite and pyroxene andesite rocks can be seen everywhere in the valley.
